We Happy Few is now live on Xbox One Game Preview, Steam Early Access, GOG.com Game in Development and Humble Store Early Access. Priced at $29.99, Compulsion Games confirmed on Reddit that it has no plans on discounting the game during its Game Preview / Early Access period and that the price of the game will increase when it is fully released – although Compulsion has not set a final price yet.
Set in a drug-fuelled, retrofuturistic city in an alternative 1960s England, We Happy Few boasts a procedurally-generated world, ensuring that everyone’s experience will be unique. The game also features three modes: sandbox, story and Wellie mode, although currently in its preview state it only has sandbox, although there are quests and a main story to follow (not in its entirety). In the game, players can enjoy the experience in their own style, focusing on surviving by filling their basic needs such as hunger and thirst. They will have to learn how to interact with the other members of their society, choosing stealth, conformity or combat. Like other survival roguelike games, players will collect recipes, scavenge items and craft dozens of weapons, tools and devices.
Each time you die however, there is no reloading your save. Instead, We Happy Few is designed to be replayed, allowing you to restart in a brand new city and each time, you will learn more about how to survive in Wellington Wells.
