At a special, private event Nintendo has announced Code Name: STEAM, an all-new IP heading to the 3DS. According to the company’s tweets, Code Name: STEAM is a turn-based strategy game with a variety of unique features. And since it’s a strategy game, it’s being developed by Intelligent Systems, the same minds behind Fire Emblem and Advance Wars. According to Hitoshi Yamagami from one of the software development teams at Nintendo, the goal is to “find a way to introduce more people to strategy games and have them fall in love with them the way I have.” The game will use the unique touch screen features of the Nintendo 3DS to create an intuitive control system and will use action elements from shooters to enhance both movement and attacking.
Unfortunately the event didn’t allow photography or video, but we’ll update the story as soon as Nintendo releases some assets for Code Name: STEAM.
Update: Nintendo has announced that Code Name: STEAM will be featured during the company’s Treehouse: Live @ E3 event tomorrow.
