EA has announced the EA Access program, which will be a subscription-based service heading exclusively to the Xbox One. Priced at $4.99 a month or $29.99 for a full year, EA Access will go live this summer and will give gamers access to The Vault, an evolving selection of EA’s Xbox One games. During the EA Access beta, members will have access to Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, Peggle 2 and Battlefield 4, with more titles being added soon.
In addition to gaining access to The Vault, EA Access members will also receive the opportunity to try new games five days before the release date, along with a 10-percent discount on EA digital purchases, including full games, downloadable content (DLC) and in-game currency.
At launch, EA Access will be available in Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, United Kingdom, and the United States with additional territories to follow.
And to think just a few years ago you’d spend more than $4.99 to rent a single game from your local Blockbuster. How times have changed.
