Nintendo has announced several Wii U games will be released in “early 2015” including Yoshi’s Woolly World, Splatoon and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. Though no exact time frame or release window defines “early 2015,” it’s probably safe to assume it’ll be within the first quarter.
In the same press release, Nintendo announced that Super Smash Bros. 3DS has sold over 1.5-million physical and digital units in the U.S. since its launch on October 3 while Super Smash Bros. Wii U has moved nearly 710,000 units since November 21. Sales of amiibo figurines are “approximately equal” to sales of Super Smash Bros. Wii U with Link, Mario and Pikachu leading the way.
“This is a ringing endorsement from families and fans that Nintendo has the best variety, the best value and the best gaming experiences for sale this holiday season,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “We’re extremely confident in our holiday proposition and look forward to closing this year strong and starting 2015 with a full head of steam.”
