The Legend of Legacy Launch Edition has been announced and will only be available to those that pre-order with a limited number of on-store quantity at launch. Priced at $39.99, The Legend of Legacy Launch Edition comes in a six inch by eight inch box with a 40-page art book with a glossy hardcover, a 10-track CD soundtrack of the game’s music and of course a copy of the game.
The Legend of Legacy focuses on the story of seven adventurers exploring the island of Avalon, unraveling the secrets of its past. Developed by FuRyu, the team features numerous veterans that have contributed to some of the world’s most famous JRPGs. Illustrator Tomomi Kobayashi contributed to the SaGa series while the game’s music was composed by Masashi Hamauzu, known for the SaGa series as well as Final Fantasy XIII. The game’s story is written by Masato Kato of Chrono Trigger while the game designer was Kyoji Koizumi from the SaGa series and Masataka Matsuura from 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors.
Features in the portable JRPG include seven unique perspectives as each character in The Legend of Legacy has their own motivation for exploring Avalon. Each character will have their own individual conclusion at the end of the story and players will be able to play through as each character to see them all. Instead of traditional fixed classes, the game has players managing formations to instruct specific combat roles instead. Lastly, the game has been adjusted for the Western release based on user feedback following the Japanese release. Atlus promises that it’ll reveal more details on those adjustments at a later date.
The Legend of Legacy will arrive on the Nintendo 2DS and 3DS handheld consoles on October 13, 2015. The game will also be available digitally through the Nintendo eShop but you’ll miss out on all the physical goodies that are essentially free if you manage to get your hands on a copy of the Launch Edition.
