In anticipation for the release of Gears of War Ultimate Edition on August 25 for the Xbox One, Microsoft has released a new “Mad World” launch trailer, paying homage to the iconic trailer for the original game set to Mad World by Gary Jules. The trailer even starts similar to the original, but quickly diverges to show additional footage from the game. Gears of War Ultimate Edition is a remaster of the original Gears of War but those that purchase and play the game by December 31, 2015 will also get access to the rest of the Gears of War collection thanks to backward compatibility. Those games include Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3 and Gears of War: Judgment.
The Gears of War Ultimate Edition will also include a concept art gallery with unlockable comics, modernized multiplayer with dedicated servers and skill-based matchmaking, a total of 19 maps including all DLC and previously PC-exclusive maps, 17 unlockable Gears of War 3 characters for Multiplayer progression and revamped controls for the Xbox One.
The original Gears of War was released on November 7, 2006 for the Xbox 360 and was followed up by Gears of War 2 in 2008 and Gears of War 3 in 2011.
