During a Nintendo Direct event today dedicated to Super Smash Bros., Nintendo announced that Bayonetta and Corrin from the upcoming Nintendo 3DS Fire Emblem Fates will join the Super Smash Bros. roster at a later date. According to the company, Bayonetta was the overall top pick in the recent Fighter Ballot that asked fans to nominate characters that they would love to see added to the game. Bayonetta was the top pick in Europe and in the top five in North America, but when factoring in the amount of total votes, she was the clear worldwide choice.
Along with Bayonetta, a new Umbra Clock Tower stage will be added to the game. This will be the last DLC for Super Smash Bros. and will bring the total number of playable characters to 58, the total number of stages to 84 and the number of costumers and hats to 99 on the 3DS and 97 on the Wii U.
Corrin will join the fight in February 2016 and will cost $4.99 for either console or $5.99 for both. Bayonetta will also head to the game that month priced at $5.99 individually or $6.99 for both systems.
“Mr. Sakurai knows how to go out with a smash,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “With the inclusion of even more surprising characters, stages and costumes, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U cement themselves as two of the most robust fighting games of all time.”
