Good ‘ol Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII will be available in Super Smash Bros. today on the Wii U and 3DS for $5.99 per console or $6.99 for both as a bundle. The news comes during a Nintendo Direct event where director Masahiro Sakurai confirmed buyers can purchase Cloud in the coming hours but advised that there may be delays if the Nintendo eShop gets overwhelmed by demand.
Purchasing Cloud will also add a new stage based on Midgar and those aren’t the only Final Fantasy-themed content being added to Super Smash Bros. Players will also get the ability to outfit their Mii fighters with a chocobo hat, or an outfit for Geno from Super Mario RPG.

Cloud was originally announced in November during another Nintendo Direct broadcast and his inclusion in the game comes as a surprise since Final Fantasy VII was never available on a Nintendo console. Square Enix has been focused on Final Fantasy VII since the announcement of the game’s remake, which was recently shown off at PlayStation Experience 2015. Final Fantasy VII was originally released in 1997 on the original PlayStation and the remake will be a multi-part series expanding on the game’s original story.
