Bayonetta 2 is getting a standalone release on February 19, priced at $29.99 ahead of her joining the Super Smash Bros. roster. Originally released on October 24, 2014 in North America, Bayonetta 2 was available as a bundle that included a copy of the original Bayonetta game. This re-release only includes Bayonetta 2 at a very attractive price. It appears that the standalone version of the game is currently only confirmed for the U.S.
It’s worth noting that Bayonetta 2 is already available on the Nintendo eShop as a standalone game for $49.99 and gives you an automatic discount of $20.00 towards the purchase of the original Bayonetta. It’s unclear whether the digital version of Bayonetta 2 will be discounted starting February 19.
The original Bayonetta was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on January 5, 2010 while the sequel is exclusive to the Wii U since Nintendo helped fund its development with PlatinumGames. The third-person action game centers on the witch Bayonetta who uses firearms and magical attacks to fight off hordes of enemies. Its sequel was well-received, earning numerous perfect scores from various media outlets including Gamespot, Destructoid and Edge Magazine.
