The next installment of the Injustice franchise, Injustice 2, has been unveiled. The game will be heading to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime next year, and it doesn’t appear that a PC version is in the works. Serving as the sequel to 2013’s Injustice: Gods Among Us, you can expect many of your favorite DC Comics superheroes to make an appearance in the sequel. Behind the development is once again NetherRealm, the same folks that brought you the Mortal Kombat franchise. You can expect many features found in Mortal Kombat X to make their way to Injustice 2, including next-level environment destruction and interaction.
In a blog post, NetherRealm Studios community specialist Tyler Lansdown shared some details about the upcoming title, which will feature a brand new Gear System that allows players to build their own version of Superman, their Batman and ultimately, their Injustice Universe. The Gear System uses RPG-like mechanics that reward you with loot drops each time you play the game. With each loot drop obtained, players will earn character-specific gear to outfit and power up their roster. Not only will they change the look of each character, but also their fight strategy and personal approach to every match.
